WHO WE ARE

Passionate. Patient. Persistent.
Pet training isn’t just about your pet. In fact, the most integral part of the training process is you! That’s why we always work with you to make sure your dog's training plan fits your lifestyle and is tailored to what you need and what you can sustain. We pride ourselves on our personalized approach to each dog and owner, and do our best to teach YOU how to train and handle your own dog for long-term success. Our training methods use a combination of sensible prevention, positive reinforcement-based learning, and correctional feedback with training tools as needed.
We focus on developing communication and laying foundations of behaviors with a positive approach, so your dog understands what you want and is truly motivated to listen. Then we use balanced feedback to define boundaries, teach your dog what behaviors are not appropriate, and to hold your dog accountable during times of distraction. Every dog is different and will have their own motivators and response to different forms of interactions. We consider your dog's happy attitude, energy and personality to be extremely important, and work hard to find the best way to communicate your expectations to your particular dog in a way that preserves their joy and spirit.
We know it's important to teach your dog how to operate successfully in our human world with an approach that's fair and sustainable, and we're here to help you do it!

OUR HEAD TRAINER
Passionate and Experienced
JENNIFER MORNARD
Jennifer has been in the pet industry for nearly 20 years. She started her journey as a Veterinary Technician in General Practice as a teenager, and her veterinary career lasted almost fifteen years, landing her a spot as a Senior Veterinary Assistant at a prestigious specialty clinic in Neurology in the Bay Area. She also volunteered as a young adult at the SPCA - walking, handling, feeding and cleaning for the kenneled dogs in their care - and with other rescue organizations to provide free care for pets and owners in need. The exposure and handling skills she obtained working with thousands of dogs over those years set the stage for confident control and the ability to comfortably manage dogs in difficult situations. In addition, her time working with Veterinary Neurologists gives her a background in evaluating behaviors diagnostically and a clear set of standards for when behavior issues may have a serious health origin.
She also has a degree in Neurobiology, Physiology and Behavior from UC Davis where she focused an elective emphasis on Animal Science. The education not only provided knowledge on the systems of animal brains and bodies, and insight into animal husbandry culture, but also the essential skills needed for continuing education. She can critically evaluate scientific research, and has a strong ethic for self guided study. She is passionate about continued learning and is always seeking new valuable information.
Her experience in hands-on dog training began when she became heavily invested in training her own challenging pet as a young adult. She was fascinated with the huge effect training had indirectly on certain aspects of her dog's quality of life and behavioral issues. She worked her own dog from anxious and problematic all the way up through a Certification in Advanced Obedience under a retired Police K9 Handler in Santa Cruz County. She had great success building confidence in her dog and building knowledge on managing problem behaviors. She trained several more dogs through his program and offered help with his other group classes to learn more about working with different types of dogs. She also shadowed a successful female Dog Trainer who focused on behavioral cases for many months, and gained more valuable experience on behavior and how to structure a dog training business before moving on to further her formal education in Davis.
She's now finally turned her passion into a career and is training pet dogs in Calaveras County, where she resides with her husband and two children. She has her own Dutch Shepherd she's training in advanced obedience, and is working toward a title in dog sport. She continues to invest in furthering her knowledge and experience in the field, and is currently a student in a mentorship program with a world-renown trainer of both pets and working dogs. She's also part of a membership program providing ongoing seminars and continuing education to advanced dog owners and trainers worldwide.
Her love and respect for dogs and joy in working with people is apparent from the first time you speak with her. She is fully committed to her clients and to bettering both dog and human quality of life, and the dog community as a whole. Schedule a phone consult with Jennifer today to catch her contagious enthusiasm in making your life with your dog the best it can be!
